I was frustrated because I had put a file on my sidebar in Finder (mac users only), deleted the file,  and then could not remove it from the sidebar. So, Upon wanting to remove items and clean up my sidebar, i figured out I could not simply right click on the file that had been removed, because it wouldn’t let me click on the item. I did a quick google search for how to do this and I found a thread that recommended going into the ‘com.apple.sidebar.plist’ I was about to do this until I figured out an easier way.

Simply Hold down the ‘Command’ key, click and drag the item off of the sidebar, and Wa La! It will be deleted from the sidebar.
