There are few sites that I visit for web development and entrepreneurial inspiration; however, one of them sticks out in my mind that I feel is definitely worthy of writing a post about. The site that I am referring to is called ‘Foundation’. The URL is http://www.foundation.kr/.
It’s kind of funny that I get excited when I see a new episode has been released.
So, what is foundation? Foundation is a simple video site where the creator, Kevin Rose, interviews popular web entrepreneur and CEO’s of popular Web Apps. In case you have never heard of Kevin, I’ll give you a little insight into who he is. Kevin Rose was the co-founder of the popular Digg.com. He is also an angel investor and now recently an employee with the brilliant minds at Google. He used to host a show called Diggnation, where him and his buddy would drink beer and talk about the hottest stories on Digg. It may sound dumb, but it was actually really entertaining
Anyway, Foundation is a collection of great web entrepreneurial interviews. As a web developer myself, I tend to get tied down with my position at work and feel that I am working a repetitive position that has no hopes of showing great success. Well, this web series has definitely given me new hope. Kevin Rose has interviewed several great minds including the creators of Twitter, Instragram, Ustream, and many more amazing people including Tim Ferris.
One of the things that I love about this video series is that you can tell the conversations and interviews are genuine, honest, and of course inspirational. If you are interested in coming up with new web ideas or love building new web applications you will definitely be a fan of this great show. So, be sure to head on over to http://www.foundation.kr/ and meet the minds behind some great web apps.

After I downloaded it, I watched this simple getting started video: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/adc-presents/edge-getting-started and then after watching the video, I created my first animation of a video container sliding down and then a video being displayed after the animation has completed.

So long has it been since the last release of Firefox. Well, now the latest version 4.0 is in its 1st beta release stage. Since all the hype lately about HTML 5 and compatible browsers, it now seems almost essential to have a good HTML 5 rating to be considered an Elite browser. Another great thing about Firefox version 4 is the minimal amount of space the header bar takes up. The header bar of Firefox 4 looks very similar in height to the header used in Chrome. Other than just physical appearance of the release there are so many other great features.
In the new release there is a new Add-ons manager. In this Add-ons manager, you will be able to get new extensions, edit current extensions, add/edit Firefox themes, and add/edit plug-ins. You will be able to update all your plug-ins/add-ons at once. Additionally there are filtering options for viewing or editing your current add-ons. To open the Add-ons manager goto Firefox->Customize->Add-ons.
Firefox 4 also supports WebM and HD video and there are also several new privacy settings that were put into this new release.
A few more of the Developer features include WebSockets, HTML 5 Support, JetPack SDK for building Firefox Add-ons, advanced CSS 3 support, Web Console, and Indexed DB.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the new release, be sure to head on over to: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-rc.html
When you insert a USB drive into your PC, you will be prompted to open the folder. Alternatively, you can specify for the user to be presented with different options. Say, for instance a user inserts a USB drive and you want the user to be prompted with a message that says “Run this application”, and once the user clicks they will run a file that you have specified. To perform this functionality, you need to create a new file called autorun.inf. To do this you’ll have to open up a simple text editor such as notepad and add the following code:
[autorun] icon=iconfile.ico open=file.exe label=The text label of the drive action=Run... This application
You will obviously insert your own filenames respectively in place of ‘iconfile.ico, file.exe, … etc…’
Now save this file to the root directory of your USB drive and save the filename as “autorun.inf”.
When the USB drive is inserted you will receive a pop-up that prompts the user if they would like to ‘Run… This application’ or whatever text you enter as your action. Unfortunately, this autorun feature may only work on PC machines.
If you instead wish to execute an html file the following code will be used instead:
[autorun] icon=iconfile.ico ShellExecute=file_name.html label=The text label of the drive action=Run... This application
There are many open source PHP frameworks available on the web today; however, many of them provide a lot of overhead and are pretty hefty.
