Since the release of the Xbox 360 in 2005, Microsoft has recently reported to many sources from IGN that the Xbox 720 will be releasing and ready to ship by November 2013. The new consoles graphic processing unit (GPU) is said to go in to mass production by August of 2012.
The new Xbox is said to be 6x faster than the original. It will be built on AMD’s 6000 series processor and will support multi-display with 3d and 1080p HD. The device will also support DirectX 11 on Microsoft’s Windows 7 software.
If you are an avid Xbox 360 game developer or even an indie game developer, you’ll be very happy in August because according to IGN that is when Microsoft plans on delivering development kits for the 720.
Now only time will hold the fate for the 8th generation consoles. The last generation consoles went in this order of most sold: Wii, Xbox, and then Playstation. All that I have to say is that if I get the red ring of death or any ring of death from the next Xbox console, Microsoft will be dead to me in the console gaming community. I’m hoping for great things from the next Nintendo console. Let me know what console you are anxiously awaiting for and feel free to leave a comment below
